Cinnamon 2D session (uses software rendering)
Workspace OSD: you can now name the workspaces by clicking the + button and it will remain until you delete it.
Window Quick List : The Window Quick-List is a new applet which lists all your windows across all workspaces.
ALT + Tab improvements: you can now use window thumbnails or previews on Alt+Tab.
Notifications Applet : When you add the notifications applet to your panel it keeps track of any notification you didn’t dismiss.
Improved sound applet: larger album cover, mute buttons for speakers and microphone and more
Grid View in Expo
The panel is fully customizable: options to configure auto-hide delay and the panel height have been added to Cinnamon Settings.
Now cinnamons default file browser is Nemo, forked nautilus 3.4 with the side pane, status bar etc…
Cinnamon will provide an integrated experience, not only in terms of window and workspace management, but also in terms of file browsing, configuration and desktop presentation.

Install cinnamon 1.6 on Ubuntu
Cinnamon Stable PPA has updated the packages for Ubuntu 12.04 and 12.10. Hit Ctrl+Alt+T to launch a terminal window.
Run this command to add the PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gwendal-lebihan-dev/cinnamon-stable
Then update and install cinnamon 1.6
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install cinnamon
that is it.
