Ubuntu 14.04 Wallpaper Contest of Flickr

Ubuntu 14.04 wallpaper selection contest is started on Flickr. The group and invites all the digital artists and photographers to participate in the contest for winning the community waillpapers of ubuntu 14.04.

The selected wallpapers will ship with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. This release will be a long term support release so the winners picture will sustain for longer time in ubuntu installations.

The wallpaper selection competetion for Ubuntu is running on flckr twice a year since 2009 from the Ubuntu 9.10.

Theme of Ubuntu 14.04

Ubuntu 14.04 is not proposing any theme for the pictures.  Those taking part should keep to the set of sensible guidelines listed on the Ubuntu Wallpaper Contest Wiki page.

Entries should be added to the Ubuntu 14.04 Wallpaper pool on photo-sharing site Flickr and are limited to one submission per person.

Submissions must be licensed under Creative Commons ShareAlike 3.0, with all attribution declared if elements are remixing or riffing off of other work.

Other than that the usual straightforward guidelines apply:

  • Keep it simple and attractive: avoid busy designs, too many shapes or colours
  • Use a single point of focus and single object photo
  • Design around the Unity interface elements
  • Ensure you’re designing at a minimum resolution of 2560 x 1600

the last date for all submissions is March 5, 2014 at 18:00 GMT.The winners will be selected by a panel comprising of previous releases chosen artists. The results will be announced on 11th March 2014.
