Install Compiz fusion in fedora 10

compiz-fusion is a great tool in linux. it provides 3d desktop with stunning effects.

for install compiz fusion in fedora 10

1) Remove Old Compiz Package

#yum -y remove compiz

2)Install the Livna repository

#rpm -Uvh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-stable.noarch.rpm http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-stable.noarch.rpm

3)Install the new compiz-fusion with lots of pluggins

#yum -y install compiz-fusion compiz-fusion-gnome compiz-fusion-extras compiz-fusion-extras-gnome compizconfig-backend-gconf compiz-manager gnome-compiz-manager ccsm fusion-icon fusion-icon-gtk emerald emerald-themes

4) Startup configuration

Go to:

System -> Preferences -> Personal -> Sessions

Click add

And type:

Name: Fusion Icon
Command: fusion-icon
Comment: Compiz Fusion Panel Applet

5) Now, just logoff from your computer and login again then you will see the fusion icon.

6)Click the icon and change the desktop manager to compiz

  1. This website has helped me on more than ONE occasion. I’ve been learning how to use a linux kernal for about a year now so I do a lot of poking around and it never fails…. I mess everything up and have to redo ALL the work I’ve put in to making my lappy look all purdy…. This page is bookmarked for me to start compiz all over. way to go guys… now if you could just make one for EVERYTHING else…… i’d be set 🙂

    thanks to give the step to install compiz but im try this in my HP1203ax laptop. they are not work they just give me blank screen.
