A Unique Python script called GimpBox released. It will convert your conventional gimp – 2.6.10 or eariler versions to the proposed single window mode gimp and Tabbed Files with screenshot. A great script to convert a GIMP to a more handy interface.

* Gimp – 2.6.10 or earlier

Just run GimpBox script in a command line or a launcher then your conventional gimp will load into a single window mode.

Install GimpBox

Just download GimpBox from and copy it into your local bin folder

In terminal

su -
mv /usr/local/bin/gimpbox
chmod +x /usr/local/bin/gimpbox

That is all

Run Gimpbox From a Shortcut.

On Dekstop Right click > Create Launcher

Type : Application
Name: GimpBox
Command: /usr/local/bin/gimpbox
Comment : Gimp In Single Window

Then Press OK

A shortcut will be placed on Desktop.

This is working on fedora and ubuntu.

Double click on it. You will get new Gimp Single Window mode. And Tabbed Files. The problem is the Shortcuts are not working now.
